The production of biofuels is a viable alternative to fossil fuels in Brazil and in other countries that have large farming areas available.

Besides the reality of ethanol from sugarcane and other crops, there is a huge opportunity for the production of ethanol from biomass residue, such as sugarcane bagasse, wood residues and other plant sources.

Biomass which contains cellulose, hemicellulose, other polysaccharides and lignin can be pretreated and hydrolyzed with a mixture of fungal cellulases to obtain glucose that can be fermented to produce ethanol.

Biomm is constantly looking for new business opportunities in biotechnology. At the moment we are developing, in partnership with other research institutions a new process to produce alcohol from lignocellulosic residues.
